A lot of the other gay guys I know are douches. Straight guys are so much better to hang out with. I call bullshit on every fucking level. First of all, “Way too many gay people demand respect simply because they’re gay.”? Really. I think that if we lived in a culture that didn’t dehumanize and disrespect people for being gay, demanding respect would not be necessary. Also, “Way too many?” Fucking bullshit. I know way too many gay people who aren’t respected and I don’t know a goddamn one that demands respect on the basis that they prefer to have sex with people of the same gender. You can say “Way too many _____ people demand respect simply because they’re _____” about any group of people. This statement isn’t helping to change the stigma around identity. It’s telling people, “don’t you dare expect to be respected for being a human being who happens to be gay.” What it should be saying is all people should be respected for being who they are. And I’m going to make a prediction that even if one person told the author of this post that they demand respect for being gay, the statement would still read “way too many.” Finally, every goddamned person on this planet is entitled to respect and dignity, regardless of sexual orientation. Maybe I’d entertain loopholes if a person in question murdered your entire family, but I generally think this is the fucking rule. Fuck you. Fuck all of you who agree with this. Fuck your (internalized) homophobic bullshit agenda that wants to keep gay people oppressed and silent. I demand your goddamn respect––for being a human fucking being who happens to be gay. And if you aren’t going to give it to me because you believe it’s unwarranted, you have your head up your asshole. Spread this shit, people. Others need to know this level of idiocy exists.
